Oh… also

First post of 2009. Wait, I just beat myself to that. Dammit and yea.

Hope everyone has an acceptable new year and man I can’t wait until 2010, I mean come on it sounds so cool!

The year twenty ten…

  • Should bring an end to the economic crisis of 2008.
  • Is the completion date of the ISS.
  • Will have the last flight of the space shuttle.
  • Starts on a Friday.
  • Will have the longest solar eclipse of the 21st century.

See Wikipedia for more.

Watch In Bruges

I would recommend everyone watch the film In Bruges.

Who knew Collin Farrell can act and he is really well suited to the role in this film, a pretty freaked out Dubliner. He and Brendan Gleeson play very well off each other, the soundtrack is superb and the cinematography and location are both excellent.

Plus there are some brilliant jokes some of which may cause offence to midgets… I mean dwarfs!

GTA IV, nah, who remembers this music…

Probably sound pretty crap for anyone who hasn’t played the original GTA but this really makes me want to go back and play the original. (PS: GTA IV is still very good)

Also Steam sale… ROCKS! Just snagged CivIV complete pack and and Dawn of war complete pack for ~€30… 2 games + 4 add-ons for the price of half a game.

Happy new year!

Brendon Returns!

IMG_1486 (2) Well I'm back in Cork after 42 days of Interailing fun with El!

...and man was it good. I wont go into any detail now but we started in Austria, met up with a fantastic school friend of mine who showed us almost all of Austria in a week!

Next was Hungary, just Budapest to be more precise. It was really cheep and there was so much to do that we will have to go back there for at least another week or two.

After Budapest we had a 24 hour train journey through Serbia and Macedonia down to Thessaloniki in northern Greece, stayed the night there and then got the train to Athens. After two days there and El's birthday we got trains, busses and boats to a Greek island called Zakynthos. Greek Island, need I say more...IMG_0873 (3)

About a week later we got a boat to Italy and then a train to Venice. Venice was really nice (but expensive and full of mosquitos) and I had my birthday there as well!

After a few days we headed off to Switzerland where we stayed in Zurich, Bern and finally Basel. We also visited Geneva and Interlaken. Switzerland was amazingly beautiful and somewhere we both think would be a really nice place to live!

Finally we flew back to Dublin and got the Aircoach to Cork, which was probably the worst journey of the whole 42 days (5 hours on a bus is just not fun)!

Glad to be back I suppose but I think now more than ever I know that Ireland is really not the place I want to stay...

Hope your all in good health, and as always if your around Cork give me a ring.

Also Matthias might be coming to Budapest for a few days which would rock!
All the best.

Me and my N95

imageSo I got an N95 a few days ago. Simply put it absolutely rocks.

This specifications of this thing are something else...

  • Bluetooth 2.0
  • Digital video stabilization
  • 3G (that 3.6MB download!)
  • 2.6" screen (240 x 320 pixels)
  • Visual Radio + streaming radio
  • Wireless (b/g) connection and UPnP
  • Mini USB 2.0
  • GPS (with A-GPS)
  • 5 Megapixel Camera with DVD quality video capture
  • 3.5mm headphone port (can use any headphones)
  • Plays MP3/WMA/AAC/M4A audio.
  • Full web browsing (Well before the IPhone (Lie phone))

So what does all this mean? what can I actually do with this? Well you can see where I am at anytime by going here http://www.locatik.com/nutterguy

I can check Wikipedia anywhere.

I can use MSN/Yahoo/Skype/ICQ/GTalk all the time, anywhere.

I have 2GB (soon to be 8GB) of music with me.

I can take music movies photos and documents from my laptop over Wifi then I'm at home.

I can also control my laptop over Wifi or Bluetooth. Best remote ever!

I can read my RSS feeds and check my e-mail anywhere

I can update this site from.... anywhere, like now.

I'm also on a bill pay contract with 3 with an unlimited broadband add-on so no more worrying about data charges. I did lose my free meteor to meteor texts for life but the only person I really text is El and I figure she can probably use messenger to talk to me most of imagethe time.

My only worry is that if I am actually using it all the time, will the batteries last more than 20 seconds.... Wink

Update....of nothing....

Just to let people know I'm still alive.

Live is busy in Cork what with Working in Area51 and still occasionally house hunting for a place for me and 3 friends to live...which is pretty hard to find on a tight budget...

El is super....I forgot what a real relationship was like. No temper tantrums every day, no constant medications, no bitchiness...so on... She rocks and in her own words (and mine) "El's really hot"

Go me...

Hope your all well.

Time to start living again...

Well quite a lot has been happening lately, I finally found a place to live thanks to a friend/ex boss of mine called Topper.

I went up to Cork last Saturday to look for places and phone people and I stayed the night in Area51, gaming and not sleeping a wink of course. But Monday lunchtime I had crossed of all but 4 places on my list of 17 numbers and I was getting a bit depressed about the whole thing seeing as this was the second time I had been up to Cork for the purpose for getting a place to live. So I went to one of the local letting agencies as my mum had said I should try (and I disagreed). They told me that I would need a reference from my current employer and my last landlord and give them a €50 deposit before they would even let me see any houses...er no!

So at this point I decided to walk around the shops and see what was new, naturally I went to soundstore to see how much they where ripping everyone off. I was just about to leave when Topper strides in points at a printer and say's "That one", and completely ignores me in the process! Suddenly he come out of his printer buying trance and says hi, we get talking and I tell him the only reason I am here is because I can't find a place to live and what do you know but he has a room available in the place he is staying in. I almost shouted "YES!"...but I restrained myself to a big smile!

I now live on Wycherley Place, apparently!
Just phoned the landlord now and he seems fine and the room is mine. It is a box room, and I mean like cardboard box size, but it's a nice house, decent kitchen, bathroom, living room, 2Mb broadband and a bed for me. So that's all I really need! Oh yes it's only €240 a month compared to the last place which was €730...big difference!

So...in other news, I have found loads of good friends that I didn't know I had/existed (probably because I was sooo wrapped up with little miss tantrum). Most of them are from Area51 but I was really quite surprised how many of them seemed really glad to see me back in Cork. And some people that I hardly knew have turned out to be really nice people, sure I knew they where nice before but now I actually seem to be seeing them as friends rather than just people who sometimes come to Area51.

Also I will be working part time there from February until I get another job, which hopefully will be soon.

Well my mum is back on Monday and I should hopefully be ready to move up to the new room on Tuesday. Freedom...again...yea.

Looking forward to spending time with all of my friends up there, walking, chatting, gaming and drinking(tea and coffee). And also taking lots of photos!

Hope your all well.

I really hate those Mac ads because I know so many easily led people(Americans) will now go out and buy a Mac.
